Yesterday I asked for help finding a swim instructor for our son who was EXTREMELY afraid of the water. We had tried everything and were at our wits end. He wouldn’t jump in, he panicked if he got his face wet…and his floaties were his lifeline …meaning no floaties…no pool! L He really wasn’t enjoying it with all of the other kids.

I got an email from a lady named Christine. She is a mom of 6…and a swim instructor. She is currently certified in Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, CPR, First-aid, and Lifeguard. She also holds swim curriculum certifications! (she is an instructor at a local swim institute). In addition, she is Georgia certified in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.

I agreed to try out a few lessons with her THINKING that it would take her the entire first day to even coax him into the pool…And I will tell you all that we were BLOWN AWAY!!

She came to us for a private lesson in our community pool. (I believe that she will come to you in most local areas). She walked over to the pool with Caiden…and actually carried him into the water. Once they were in, they began to play and before we knew it, she had him going under water, blowing bubbles, floating on his back and jumping from the steps! We could NOT believe that we were watching our son!! (Now for our confession…we didn’t go to the pool with them…but we went across the street to our neighbors and watched them from the back deck)

I cannot recommend her enough…or tell you all how impressed we were with her!! Those of you that know Caiden, know that he has very severe Apraxia and can barely talk….so he is extremely uncomfortable around most people. He really just felt very confident with her..and very comfortable around her. (I think my children are typically a better judge of character than we are…so this meant a LOT to me!)

Even after she left, he couldn’t wait to get us to the pool to show us everything he could do! He is VERY proud of himself!! She says that she will have him jumping in tomorrow! I can’t wait!!
